Our entire route

Alberto Montemurro's intuition led him to set up a business in Prata Camportaccio, in the garage of his house, as an artisan tool sharpener, offering a tool resharpening service to small craftsmen and carpentries, which the area lacked. As the years went by and the number of requests, relating to the precision mechanics sector, increased, the business began to serve most of the mechanical workshops in the province of Sondrio and the upper Lario, gradually acquiring experience in the regeneration of cutting tools.

To cope with the increase in demand in the mechanical sector, the business moved to a new production unit (300 m2) in Mese. Here, Alberto enlarges the machine park and starts offering new services to the constantly growing mechanical sector.

This is the year of the technological breakthrough with the introduction of the first fully automatic 5-axis Walter Power Regrinder CNC grinding centre and the Walter Helicheck CNC measuring centre. This marks the start of the production of special carbide and HSS tools, with the issuing of the measuring certificate.

2007 saw the introduction of the new, highly precise Walter Power Production CNC machine with 40pc automatic loading robot and the company's entry into the biomedical sector. It is these elements that will enhance Montemurro Utensili's experience in stainless steel machining and medical tool production.

Precision, finish and production power, with the addition of the new Walter Micro, (a machine with linear motors, at the forefront of the micro tool sector, guaranteeing mirror finish and millesimal dimensions) and the Fanuc 1000pz robot loader, the company presents itself as a fast and reliable supplier to the medical and micro tool world.

The company increased its production area to 400 square metres, became Montemurro Utensili Srl, set up a new air-conditioned control room and introduced the new Zoller Genius3M measuring machine that can certify micro tools up to ø0.5mm. The entire range of grinding wheels was updated with new binder-grits and the concept of wheel balancing was introduced to guarantee better tool quality and finish.

A new chapter has opened with the arrival of the new Rollomatic NP5 grinding machine for the preparation of semi-finished products with millesimal precision, such as drills and reamers. This innovation has enabled the company to present the implantology sector with a surgical tool with extremely low tolerances compared to its competitors.

Thanks to the introduction of the new Rollomatic 629XW (6-axis grinding centre with 6-position grinding wheel change loader, which has enabled the company to expand its production for the mechanical sector) and the expansion of the new technical department with new specialised operators, the company has achieved ISO 13485 system certification, which allows it to present itself as a contract manufacturer of tools for surgical instruments and the provision of complementary services to the production of medical tools.

In July 2022 The company will move to its new 2,000-square-meter headquarters currently allocating 650 square meters for production only, 150 square meters to offices and 200 meters allocated for quality control, logistics and common areas.
In addition to two new cnc operators, two new sharpening machines a Rollomatic GrindSmart 630XW and a Rollomatic ShapeSmart NP50 are added in October.

The technical department, consisting of 4 people, is now more structured, organized and ready to meet any request. The quality control department has grown from 2 to 4 people.
